The Chilbury Ladies' Choir by Jennifer Ryan
Village life in WWII England. I've seen it compared to The Nightingale and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society which I loved; but, truly, it was the gorgeous cover art that made me have to read this one.
It's told through letters and journal entries. I'm not far in yet, so just getting to know that characters.
This sounds intriguing. I find some covers, like the one in this post, really draw me to a book. The reissues of Angela Thirkell books have fabulous covers too.
ReplyDeleteOf course I had to go look for Angela Thirkell covers. :) They look like they may be by the same artist. The Thirkell covers are not quite as soft, but the elongated subjects, the trees, the architecture in the background. Now I'm going to have to read some of hers too! :)
DeleteThis definitely looks like my kind of book, love that era.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I'm really enjoying it. Hope to finish tonight.
