Or I guess, more accurately, I'm back behind the wheel. It's been over two months without a car.
I was campaigning for something along these lines...

...but Carey reminded me that they weren't equipped with air conditioning back then. Ah well, he will need another truck someday...I'll keep working on him...he likes the heat. :)
So we got a 2015 Chevy Equinox with less than 17,000 miles on it. Looks brand new inside and out and still under warranty. We felt we got it for a good price as well.
We test drove a different make and model earlier in the week. It was one that I have admired for the past few years. It was maxed out with computerized everything and really overwhelmed me. I got the same feeling I get when my new-fangled HE washer thinks it's smarter than me. It was quite a bit older, had way more miles on it, and was more than we wanted to pay. I'm happy that I made a point to give it a try, though, so I won't have to wonder if we shouldn't have gotten one of those. Happily, I don't have any doubts.
The Equinox is great. Has the updates I wanted without being 'too' much.
Now I have to clean out my side of the garage so I can park inside! Remember WAY back when I had Carey move some things from storage into my garage space so I could go through them? Yep. Gotta get on that.
Coincidentally, Jared had to replace his car as well yesterday with a new-to-him version that he is very happy about. I know he's not going to want to give up his covered spot...not after the hail damage he had to his previous car last spring.
Beautiful! We have a small SUV and love it. That's quite some hail damage! I remember when I moved to Guam, I was on the plane on the way over and the lady I sat next to gave me two pieces of advice: make sure anyplace you rent has typhoon shutters and don't park your car under a coconut tree. The first time I went to lunch with my new boss, guess where he parked? We came out from our lunch to a lovely coconut right in the middle of the smashed windshield.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pamela!
DeleteThat was very helpful advice you received!
Looks like a great car. I've never driven an SUV but they look like you ride higher and get a better view of the road. Should be safer too because of that
ReplyDeleteThis one is a smaller SUV than my last. Better gas mileage…yea! This one sits lower than my last, but higher than a car, so for this baby bear it is ‘just right’ for arthritic knees on entering and exiting. :)
DeleteLooks lovely! You must be so happy to have wheels again!
ReplyDeleteOddly, I haven’t driven it since I’ve gotten it home! I got used to being a hermit, I guess. :)
