2. Last week I ordered several meals from Front Porch Pantry. I've been doing more cooking, but when I don't these are more economical than getting takeout.
3. This week's mail brought a check for $84 as a refund from my orthopaedic specialist.
4. First Social Security benefit direct deposit was received. It was not for the amount I was told would be coming, so some follow up on my part is required to try to make sure the other benefit I'm entitled to is approved.
5. Spent the majority of days this week at home, no errands, no shopping; lots of reading.
This week's meals:
Saturday: Spanish Rice
Sunday: Family supper at Kasey & Beau's
Monday: Pasta Fagioli soup
Tuesday: *Schlotzky sandwiches
Wednesday: Front Porch Pantry subscription meal
Thursday: Front Porch Pantry subscription meal
Friday: King Ranch casserole
(* not frugal takeout or dinner out)
Congrats on that first Social Security check! A milestone for sure even if it does need tweaking.
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking forward to my first Social Security check soon. Spanish Rice sounds good, do you have the recipe posted somewhere here?
ReplyDeleteSpanish Rice is just a box of Rice A Roni Spanish Rice added to cooked ground beef
Deletewith a can of diced tomatoes and 2 cups of water added, and then top it with shredded cheddar cheese.
We like it with tortillas and guacamole.
You can also use the cooked rice and meat to emptied bell peppers.
Recipe for that is at https://whatscookin4milesnorthofnowhere.blogspot.com/2008/10/stuffed-bell-pepper.html
Your doing great with the meals. I keep a couple of Lean Cuisine in the freezer so those days when I somehow have run out of food. I don't want to be tempted to get takeout either.
