Today is Caitlyn's tenth birthday, so I made ladybug cake balls. I sent the ones above over yesterday to accompany her birthday cake for her sleepover. I used the rest of the batter today for our Sunday dinner dessert. I coated today's batch red, but lost my mojo when it came to the decorating, so I just did a few ladybugs, and simply topped the majority with sprinkles. Not my best effort, but they were okay. I think I should have just left those crazy-big eyes off.
As always, I make my cake balls / cake pops using Bakerella's directions.
I made Bobby think twice before biting into one when I told him one of them on the plate was a cherry tomato in disguise. That boy hates cherry tomatoes! :)
Such a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pamela!
DeleteThey look so good - love 'em!
ReplyDeleteThey taste good too, Caroline! :)
DeleteCute! Seems a bit labor intensive for me though. LOL! Love the cherry tomato idea... ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit labor intensive, but fun in small doses. I bought food grade markers to put on the black lines and dots on the red, so that was easier than using icing which I have done before.
DeleteThose markers are wonderful!
