A jumble of thoughts on a busy week...

1.  The "Carry On" posters have been everywhere for the last few years...a bit too much popular fad for my taste...but came across this one recently, and the small print gave me a chuckle.

2.  This week is kicking my booty.  I will be VERY glad when one special person gets back to work from maternity leave (that is so selfish of me, because I know how hard it is to leave a sweet baby with a new sitter situation) and another empty staff position is filled.

3.  Added to my crazy schedule this week was Carey having some outpatient surgery yesterday.  We had to be up very early to get to the city on time (right at rush hour I might add), and ended up choosing a route that completely backfired when we came to a low place in the road with fast moving water flowing across it.  Had to turn around and take alternate route.  More storms expected tonight, so the flooding is probably not over.

4.  Speaking of floods...so much destruction and heartbreak nearby.  Prayers for the lost and those who love them.  Prayers for the searchers.  Prayers for those mucking out the mud.  If you have never cleaned up after a flood, the smell...oh the smell.

5.  Must add that Carey is recovering very well, in honor of which I think I should order this:

  1. I've always felt that a flood is the worst kind of disaster a family can endure. With a fire, things are gone, burned to ashes, but with a flood, your belongings are still there, soaked, molding, precious memories sodden with water and mud. Horrible.

Hope Carey has a speedy recovery!

    1. We helped friends clean up after a flood once. My job was to rinse off what tools he could find under the mud and goo and try to salvage photos. SO sad.

  2. When our house burned, there were floods going on in other states at the time. I remember being grateful we had only suffered fire. We had neighbors and friends to turn to for help...in a flood, entire communities can be devastated, and your neighbor probably needs as much help as you do. So sad...

On a brighter note though...I love the "Carey on" sign...

    1. Kasey is planning to take the boys to volunteer for flood clean up tomorrow. They will never forget it, and they will never want to live in what might even remotely be a flood zone.

  3. Do hope Carey is feeling better, and I did have a chuckle at that picture, although like you, I'm a bit sick of the whole 'keep calm' thing now.

    1. Thanks, Caroline. He's better enough that I want to smack him once in awhile, but not well enough that my conscience would let me. :)

I have had a lot of really gross spam comments left lately, so I am having to turn comment moderation back on. To my nice blog friends, my apologies if this makes it more difficult for you to comment. To the mean naughty-talk spammers, just go away!
