As usual I made a dessert to take to Sunday dinner at the kids' house. This week it was a Strawberry Lemonade Layer Cake by Easybaked. It was easy and turned out very pretty. The kids thought the frosting was a little too tart, and I would probably adjust it a little if I make it again.
I also took Asparagus Tomato and Avocado Salad. When we had asparagus with them a couple of weeks ago, Beau was unhappy that Kasey prefers it overcooked, and so always makes it that way. I love the cooked-but-with-a-tender-crunch texture of the asparagus when cooked as the salad recipe directs, so I knew he would appreciate that about it. He's a good son-in-law, and he doesn't like sweets, so I like to take a dessert alternative especially for him occasionally. :)
Wow, the cake looks beautiful! Not a huge fan of asparagus (ha, mainly because we have to buy that Mexican stuff in Australia!)but will have a look at the recipe. Gus doesn't mind it... :)
ReplyDeleteCake looks yummy....wish I could help myself to a slice straight from your blog...haha!
ReplyDeleteWow ... what a good m-i-l you are !

That salad is SOOOOOOOOOO good! I've been wanting to make it again, but can't find any good asparagus. May have to try the cake too!

ReplyDeleteJoolz...Thanks, I thought it looked pretty too. As did our Mexican asparagus, LOL. Of course Mexico is a lot closer to us than to you in Australia! :)
ReplyDeleteCath...too late, the cake didn't last through the night. :)
ReplyDeleteSharron...thank you! I hope my son-in-law agrees with you. :)
ReplyDeleteFaith (LB)...Our HEB had good asparagus on Saturday, which was my deciding factor.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been really craving my mother’s pound cake, and can’t find the recipe. It’s here somewhere. But with that on my mind, I don’t think any boxed cake would have completely satisfied me.
Wondering about your new comment settings...just trying this out... :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd look...each comment can be replied to individually. :)
