The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel by Deborah Moggach
I started this one yesterday. I haven't seen the movie, so I am happily reading without any preconceived notions about the characters. I hear the book is really different than the movie, so I guess when I finish this one I will have to watch it to compare.
This one fulfills the 'book set in a hotel' category of the 2017 Reading Challenge.
I haven't read the book but LOVED the movie. Have watched it a few times. So many great actors and a charming story.
ReplyDeleteAlmost done, then I'm going to watch the movie immediately. :)
DeleteI saw the movie first.. then read the book.. I think either way works... there is a sequel to the movie Something original like the second best marigold hotel? which isn't as good (in my opinion) but still worth watching!
ReplyDeleteI always want to read the book first if I can just so I don't have the actor's face in my head while I'm reading.
DeleteThanks for the recommendation. I just got the e-book from the library.
ReplyDeleteYou mean you have time to read now that the big house jobs are done and you just have maintenance to keep it tidy while on the market? :) Hope you enjoy the book. I'm almost done; should finish tonight.
DeleteLoved the movies - both of them - will have to check out the book.
ReplyDeleteI’ve read reviews that the book is grittier…more sexual harassment type behavior and more racism and racist language. I read all day and am almost done with the book. I will look for the movie as soon as I’m done, so I’ll let you know.
DeleteDid you ever watch the movie(s)?
DeleteI did, and I really liked it. It felt like a completely different story from the book however.
