First quarter progress...

Prompts that have been completed are preceded by a black dot.

Can you believe that a quarter of the year has already gone by?  I feel pretty good about my challenge progress so far.  Quite a few books, that have been on my Kindle for such a long time, have now been read.  A lot have also been borrowed and read.

Keeping in mind my original goal of reading down my backlog of books has worked wonders at keeping me from buying books!  I won't say I've bought none, I bought two just yesterday for $1.99 each, but they were two copies of the same book that I bought for a friend and I to read and discuss.  The topic interested me, and the  forward of the book is by an author that both of us like.  I'm not sure either of us will read it soon.

I have been struggling a bit lately (haven't we all?), so reading has been an escape.  I need to get a handle on some things, and I've reached out for some help with that.

I'm doing okay with 2025 goals. I keep them in daily sight by writing the entire list at the top of the page of my weekly to-do list.
  • + I deleted time wasters from my phone, but put Sudoku back on.  I tried using a paper Sudoku book, but found it took me longer to look for it, and find a pencil, and play a game, than to just play one game on my phone.  And I do keep it to just one game.  In times of stress, I have added solitaire, but then uninstall again when I feel calmer.
  • + I've baked bread twice.
  • -  No quilts finished yet.
  • + Book challenge already addressed.
  • + I've worked on both Storyworth and Ancestry a little.
  • + I am volunteering at the library weekly.
  • -  No Canasta for us yet.
  • +/- I've had the Featherweight worked on, but it needs to go to a pro, so I'll take it soon.
  • +  I've found date/time/location of farmer's market, so hope to go next time they are open.
  • -  I'm behind on the 52 letters, but will make it up.

  1. Farmer's markets are interesting because you see what you could eat if you only bought locally. I've also found many of the sellers love to talk about their products. Great progress and the stress for all of us who care about the economy and a country that works for all is very real.

    1. It occurs to me that farmers' mkts not a bad way to meet people in my community either.

A big 'I'll second THAT!" to the stress for all. The coverage of protests lets me know I'm not alone.

  2. It seems to me like you are doing all of the things that will keep you headed in the right direction for spring. I like the idea of finding a Canasta group. My kids will no longer play cards with me and I am assuming it brings back memories of Dad...so I just need to find a group!

    1. I've only played two-hand Canasta, but I need to learn the four hand as well!

  3. Good for you! I feel guilty for not volunteering at the library, but now that I am retired, I had making specific time commitments. Ours need people to help members with technology/device issues, which I am kind of good at. Kudos for giving your time!

    1. A friend has mentioned it to me many times over the years, and I only now felt I was ready to sign on. I only work with the used book section team, keeping the shelves stocked and readying donations for shelving, so it's not overly demanding...usually...the week I started there was a huge 3000(ish) book donation, and it was all hands on deck. :) The team is so very nice, and I probably would never have met them otherwise.

I have had a lot of really gross spam comments left lately, so I am having to turn comment moderation back on. To my nice blog friends, my apologies if this makes it more difficult for you to comment. To the mean naughty-talk spammers, just go away!
