I have painted my toenails red.
I did it for the little girls' party. They love having their nails (fingers and toes) painted...the brighter the better...so it seemed like kind of a celebratory thing that they would like.

I really hate it.
Whenever I catch a glimpse of my feet, they look like someone else's. They look like my Aunt Jo's. Don't get me wrong, I love my Aunt Jo. But her feet do not belong at the end of my legs. Now, I'm not absolutely certain that she has ever had her toes this color. But I always think of her as somewhat glamorous, and I think this is a glamorous color.
I'm not glamorous. Or bold. Or desirous of drawing attention to myself.
My preference is a french pedicure. It looks tidy. Subtle. Practical. Now these are some adjectives I can relate to.
Still, it is good to break out of our routines now and then. Maybe a nice plum...
Well, I bet red is just fine on you, but I know what you mean. When I (finally) go to the beauty shop and get my hair done, I have to do a double-take in the mirror for a while. Just the little differences of slightly different color (as in covered-up gray) and the trim make me "see" someone else in the mirror as I go by!
ReplyDeleteBut, it's nice you did your toenails for the party! C
I'm a frosty pink kind of girl... or if I'm feeling especially piratical I'll go with a bright coral! :)
ReplyDeleteNever, never red.

Hi Kath...this is my first visit to your blog. What a treat to read and see the lovely tea party you planned for the two very special young ladies. Memories were indeed made.
ReplyDeleteMadi and I live in NC...she is a diva cat and I'm her Mom (aka lady in waiting). We just started blogging in June and have lots to learn but we're having fun,
Madi and Mom
Hi Kath...it is Madi and Mom (Cecilia) again. We were thrilled to see that you visited us. Madi..sulked about our leaving her until she realized her beloved Miss Debbie (pet sitter)was coming...Miss Debbie adores Madi and Madi loves adoration. Very much the diva Cat.
ReplyDeleteShe would have been right at home in the midst of your nail and tea party.
Your girls are precious. I'm the mother of a grown daughter but I remember how special little girls are. Enjoy every moment....
Madi and Mom
