Spring Break visit 4...

Well here it is Friday...the end of Spring Break week.  Last night Bobby came to stay over.  We went out to dinner, then home for a quiet evening of television.

Even though there was no regular classes this week, Bobby had theater workshops most of the week, so today he had to be at school by ten.  The boy loves coffee drinks, so I made him an iced caramel coffee to start his day.  Then I dropped him off and that was that.

The week of visits is done.  When I count my blessings, the biggest one is that we live less than a mile from the kids and get to see them often, and they still want to come and spend one-on-one time with us too.

I'm a happy woman.

  1. That's awesome that you are so close. Love the look of the coffee drink. Just recently found an interesting coffee drink from The Pioneer Woman - blend hot coffee with 1 Tbsp coconut oil (and 1 Tbsp unsalted butter but I can leave that out because it's not Whole 30 and get comparable results) - it's supposed to be amazing. Will have to give it a try.

  2. I will have to check that out. I don't drink hot coffee...or hot drinks of any kind except the occasional hot cocoa in the winter. I usually keep Trader Joe's Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate in the pantry so I can make iced coffees.

  3. I wish I would remember to come visit your blog more often. I love your writing style and feel like you could just make one of those yummy looking coffee drinks for us to sit and visit over. Yum!!

How are you liking the Jillian Flynn book? I loved Gone Girl and have thought about this one. But I have so many PILES of books left from my book seller days I really need to tackle those and pass them on.

  4. Thanks, Betsy! I would definitely make us some coffee and maybe some cookies. Then we could trade books and make some cards! :)

I’m glad you dropped in, and thank you for the lovely comment!

  5. Maybe you could share your iced caramel coffee recipe??? :-D

Family is such a huge blessing...even better when you are able to spend so much quality time together. The special memories being made will be forever cherished...

  6. Hey, LB! Pour strong coffee in glass, stir in sweetened condensed milk to sweeten, add some caramel sauce (like Hershey’s chocolate sauce), I added a little more skim milk too. Add ice, and top with a shot of ReddiWhip and a drizzle more of caramel sauce on top.

Lately I have been picking up a bottle of Cold Brew Coffee when I’m at Trader Joe’s and keeping it in the pantry. But I’m not as enamored of it as I once was. It’s not as smooth a flavor as when you cold brew at home. Instructions for that here: http://fourmilesnorthofnowhere.blogspot.com/2009/08/simply-delicious-iced-coffee.html

  8. ohhh I am jealous. Our kids all live within minutes of each other five hours away. They all migrated to the seattle area after college or following boyfriends. We are looking forward to summer so some of the grands can come visit and stay a week or so with us.....missing them terribly. We haven't been able to travel because of my illness and am hoping to be able to soon. I am so happy you are so close and they love coming to stay as often as they do.

  9. I know how blessed I am to have the kids so close, and am so thankful. When we lived out on the ranch, we were a little over an hour away, and it seemed too far. :) When we told our daughter and son-in-law we wanted to move closer to them, I thought there was a possibility they would be leery, but they were completely cool with it. Son-in-law was raised here, so he has family here too.

I have had a lot of really gross spam comments left lately, so I am having to turn comment moderation back on. To my nice blog friends, my apologies if this makes it more difficult for you to comment. To the mean naughty-talk spammers, just go away!
