About Time...

Caroline recommended this movie a few months ago.  I tucked that away, as it hadn't yet released in the U.S.  When it was released here a few weeks ago, I didn't get around to going right away.  It has had a lot of mixed reviews, and I was afraid it was going to get pulled from theaters if I waited too long, so I went by myself this afternoon.  Thank goodness I went alone, because I would have embarrassed myself if I was with anyone.  I cried like a baby.

I loved this movie.  I feel sure it will be one of those that I will not be able to pass by when I see it on the satellite guide.  The characters were lovable, and the actors playing them were great.  It wasn't perfect...there were a few things that made me go, huh?  But overall, it was a great message and love story...and the love between father and son was as compelling as the love between boy an girl.

What I'm reading Wednesday...

Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese

This is the last of my 2013 Reading Challenge books (not including the alternates).  I put it off till the very end, thinking that I would hate it and not get through it.  But I am pleasantly surprised to be totally engrossed in it.  It may be the best of all the Challenge selections.

Moody Monday...

...getting in the mood for the holidays, that is.  On my way home tonight, this Chick-fil-A was all decked out.  Check out the giant inflatable Rudolph on the roof!

Speaking of Rudolph, here's a Recycled Rudolph that I whipped up the other day.  I'll be adding some geegaws to make him even Christmas-y-er soon.

And something tells me I need to add 'a new watch' to my Christmas letter to Santa.

Today is Tuesday...

...and I am sending a thank you card for a great weekend.  My poor sister-in-law was contending with a couple of pretty serious maladies, a frozen shoulder and shingles, and still wanted to host seven houseguests!

I wonder if she will make the connection that the little house card opens (as for guests) and has shingles.  :)

It is a blustery day here. Soup weather is here at last!

Freaky Friday...

We are off to visit the in-laws.  On the way, Carey wants to stop to eat. He picks this place...a breakfast-all-day chain.  Never been my thing.  I think they are over-priced dens of crummy food.  But there wasn't a lot of choices in Podunkville.  So we waited (and waited and waited) to be seated. First clue.

Waiter was very friendly...in a big-dumb-slobbery puppy sort of way. A bit overly chatty. Kept asking if everything tasted okay. Like...those hotcakes tasting okay? How 'bout the eggs, they tasting okay? That burger tasting okay? And the fries...the fries taste okay too? (And this was all asked in just one of his many trips to our table.  I mean we were eating it, so...  Second clue.

Now here's the kicker. He made the round of the dining room to tell each of his tables that he was on his way to the restroom, so if we needed anything one of the other servers would be happy to help us, because he was on his way to use the restroom.  (His repetition, not mine.)  Picture a sparsely populated dining room...announcement made at each table...each time heard by the entire room.  I kinda wanted to ask just how long he was planning on being in there.  He left the dining room followed by quiet, unbelieving chuckles. Third clue.

Somebody tryin' to tell me, loosen up, girl.  It's gonna be a goofy day.

Possession by A. S. Byatt

This one is rough going...scholars researching Victorian poets...pah.    I seem to be getting into the rhythm of it now.

Today is Tuesday...

...and I am watching Gone With the Wind.  Again.  It's intermission.  It's 11:00 p.m.  I have to work tomorrow.

I guess it will end the same way it always does, so I might as well call it a night.

Fiddle-dee-dee.

Making it Monday...

Nothing like starting out a Monday morning with your computer system down.

Update: 11:58 and still down.  Waiting on tech support, and I forgot my lunch this morning.
