Ode to the Rainier cherry...

Oh, you cutie
filled with beauty.
I wait all year to taste of you.

Come to mama!

( I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these still in the produce department on today's grocery shop.  They're kind of a splurge, but I could't resist one final indulgence for the season.)

  2. We only get cherries at Christmas time and our variety is a deep blood red colour. To me they symbolise childhood summer holidays, good times.

  3. Thanks, Niki. The old pic was pretty current...way back when I started the blog in 2007. Thought it was about time for a new one. :)

Joolz, I associate the deep red cherries with childhood summer vacations too. My grandma had a small cherry tree in her yard...as well as an apple tree, where in the summer the apples were always tiny and green and months away from being ripe.

  4. I love those cherries.. I don't think I've even seen them since we moved from Central Canada to the East Coast! I know in the west they were only around for about a week!

Wonder if I could grow edible cherries here?

I have had a lot of really gross spam comments left lately, so I am having to turn comment moderation back on. To my nice blog friends, my apologies if this makes it more difficult for you to comment. To the mean naughty-talk spammers, just go away!
