Bluebonnet dollies...

With wildflowers along each roadway lately, they are the topic of much conversation. One of my friends at work and I were reminiscing about past springtimes, and she asked me if I had made bluebonnet dolls as a child. I had to admit that I had never seen one. Yesterday, she pulled off of the road on her way to work to gather a primrose and a bluebonnet so she could show me.

Forgive the poor lighting in the photos, it is such a gray rainy day today, but I had to share these lovelies before the season ends. They are made just by pulling the stem off of an evening primrose and turning it upside down, and then pulling one 'bonnet' with its tiny bit of stem off of a bluebonnet, and inserting the stem into the primrose.

Don't they make lovely little colonial ladies in their hoop skirts and bonnets?

  1. In all the time I lived in Texas, no one ever showed me that. How cute! It looks like southern belles doesn't it? Thanks for sharing.

  2. These are so lovely. My girls would love to make these to put in their fairy houses. Maybe we can figure out how to make them with the flowers we find in our yard.

I have had a lot of really gross spam comments left lately, so I am having to turn comment moderation back on. To my nice blog friends, my apologies if this makes it more difficult for you to comment. To the mean naughty-talk spammers, just go away!
